Lent/Advent Concerts

Our free noontime concerts are back with a whole new season this winter/spring during the season of lent. Join us each Wednesday February 18th-April 1st, 2026, in Clark Hall at the church for a 30 minute live music break in your day! Each week features a new group and a wide variety of music:

February 18th–The series launches with the Essex Piano Trio. A popular returning artist to our series, the Trio (Beverly Soll, Ashley Offret, and David Cabral) kicks off this series with an all Ravel program. Luscious French music to warm a winter’s day!

February 25th–Keyboardist and conductor Ian Watson returns with a solo piano program. In addition to serving as the Associate Conductor of the Handel and Haydn Society, Mr. Watson has a long career in the U.S. and London playing and recording with noted musicians from Renee Fleming to John Gardiner and many, many, more.

March 4th–Karen Burciaga (baroque violin, guitar, voice) & Matthew Wright (lute, guitar, voice) present a concert called Liberty Tree. In honor of the country’s 250th anniversary, Karen and Matthew of Boston-based ensemble Seven Times Salt will lead you on a musical tour of early New England performed on period instruments. They’ll trace a lineage from the eve of the Revolution to eventual victory at Yorktown through songs of liberty, rants against taxation and tyranny, wartime laments, and some of George Washington’s favorite dance tunes. You’ll hear quotes from 18th-c. writers and even sing along with tunes ranging from the battlefield to the ballroom!

March 11thWomen’s Voices returns with another program of music for treble voices that moves and soars. The program is conducted by Ian Watson. An audience favorite not to be missed!

March 18th–Pianist Shi Chen returns with a new solo program. MS. Chen is a graduate student at the Longy School of Music who has appeared on our series several times and we always welcome her return!

March 25th–Mezzo soprano Rachel Shukan has her series debut.

April 1st–Violinist Aija Reke and pianist Lorena Tecu perform the Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano by Cesar Franck. A doctoral student at Boston University, Aija has appeared at the church many times in our orchestras and with the early music group A Joyful Noyse.
