Hancock Church School offers child care from 9:30am-noon, 50 Sundays a year. We have a staff of three early childhood professionals plus additional volunteers. Toddlers have a large playroom while our Nursery is a safe place for infants to crawl, nap, and be changed if needed. Both spaces have closed-circuit television broadcasting worship in the sanctuary.
For more information on infant and toddler care, please contact David Clark, Minister for Children and Families, at david@hancockchurch.org.
With story, play, and worship, Hancock Church School teaches children that a life of faith begins with wonder and hope. We use the Bible and the holy stories of our individual lives to search for and recognize God all around us, all the time.
Inspired by the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, we believe children deserve an open and inclusive community of peers and mentors to explore God and the Christian faith, cultivate a spiritual identity, have opportunities to serve others, and come to know they are loved and cherished by their Creator.
Our Church School is separated by grade into three classes: kindergarten/first, second/third, and fourth/fifth. Each class has a regular teacher and assistant who teach and lead lessons, games, and activities. Our curricula is published through the Center for Progressive Christianity.
Families begin together in the Sanctuary, then young people leave after the Children’s Moment. Hancock Church School starts with Children’s Chapel led by David, the Minister for Children and Families. After Children’s Chapel, children break into their classes until the end of the worship service.
