Morning Worship

Palm Sunday Procession

Sunday morning worship is a warm and inspiring time of being together as a church family. We enjoy inspiring sermons that braid together three things: the scripture text, the needs of the congregation, and the needs of the community and world . We leave challenged and inspired by word, song, prayer, and fellowship. Worship music ranges from beautiful hymns on the organ, to choral music spanning a thousand years in many genre, to bell choirs, instrumentalists, Celtic ensembles, brass, and so much more. Following worship we enjoy fellowship with one another at coffee hour, or in the summer, lemonade hour. Often there are multiple opportunities for spiritual formation and community building for all ages following worship as well.

Tune into our YouTube channel to join us remotely for 10 am worship on Sundays, or to watch at your convenience. Want to hear some of our music? Check out the links of the “Music” page!

Evening Worship–Worship at The Well

Worship at the Well is our Evening Worship most Sundays at 5:00pm from September to May. We hope “The Well” is unlike any other worship service you’ve attended. We sit in chairs in a semicircle, illuminated by candles and soft-light. The River Rock Band plays music that is rich and varied: acoustic and jazz, Celtic and soulful, rock and gospel. The space evolves, following God’s movement in our hearts. However, every time we gather, we make time to share our joys and concerns, light candles of prayer, and share in the meal Jesus shared with his friends the night before he died. All are welcome to come and discover how their spirit might be refreshed in community with others on the journey. We never leave the same as we came in. God, you see, is very, very good.

Dates for Fall 2026 are: September 26th, October 4th, October 25th, and November 1st

During the season of Advent, we have services weekly in a Vespers format. This is an almost entirely sung service, with time for prayer and communion (and no message or sermon). This is a beautiful and beloved new tradition here at Hancock and a great way to breath, relax, and re-connect with the true meaning of the Christmas season. Vespers Dates for 2026 are: November 29th, December 6th, December 13th, and December 20th.

In addition, the River Rock Band provides the music for our 11:00 p.m. Christmas Eve service. While this service follows a traditional Lessons and Carols format, the music features more contemporary acoustic arrangements of traditional carols, as well as newer pieces. The service itself includes contemporary readings in addition to the traditional scripture stories. Communion is celebrated by candlelight at the end, with everyone circling the sanctuary, candles in hand, singing Silent Night. We exit out into Christmas with the tolling of the bell at midnight. A magical start to your holiday!
