Giving Opportunities

Much of what we together achieve as a congregation is powered by the financial resources members contribute to Hancock. If you believe in our work and mission, and as you are able, we invite you to help. There are a variety of ways you can contribute financially:

Gifts to the Annual Fund: These are the gifts that fund everyday expenses – they pay our staff, fund routine building maintenance, pay the electric bill, buy office supplies, and more. We conduct a pledge drive every fall, asking members to make a good-faith estimate of what they expect to give to the church in the following year; this helps us plan thoughtfully for the year ahead. Gifts to the annual fund, including those in fulfillment of pledges, are welcome anytime.

Gifts for Special Purposes: Hancock has a number of special purpose funds – moneys that have been contributed to fund particular needs and activities such as our music program, mission work, and educational programs. These funds supplement our annual budget and allow us to do more in these particular areas than we could afford otherwise.

Gifts for Endowment: Gifts of endowment funds – either to supplement an existing endowment fund or to create a new one – are a wonderful way to “pay it forward”, helping ensure that the future Hancock Church will be as vibrant, welcoming, and active as the church you’re experiencing now.

Gifts to a Capital Campaign: From time-to-time Hancock undertakes a capital campaign to fund extraordinary capital improvements that exceed what we can afford in our annual budget. Our elevator, welcoming foyer and stairway, modern kitchen, and renovated bathrooms are all the result of our 2011 capital campaign; the goal of our current campaign is to refurbish our sanctuary and make the chancel accessible.

Bequests: Would you like to include Hancock Church in your estate plans? Many friends of Hancock have done so, wanting to leave a lasting legacy at an institution that has meant so much to them and their families. The simplest way is to provide for a bequest to Hancock in your will; there are many ways to do that, some of which are described here.
