Individuals can give to Hancock Church in a variety of ways to fulfill their Annual Appeal pledge or to donate for other purposes. If you have any questions about any of these, please contact our Director of Operations, Suzie Barry, at suzie@hancockchurch.org or 781-862-4220.
- Cash is always welcome and can be placed in the offering plate (in an envelope if you want it credited to you) or brought to the church.
- Checks should be made payable to Hancock United Church of Christ and either placed in the offering plate (use the memo line to indicate the purpose) or brought or mailed to the church at 1912 Mass. Ave., Lexington, MA 02421.
- Credit and Debit Cards and Bank Drafts can be used to make donations through our online form. You can also use the online form to set up recurring gifts (always welcome; they take the burden off you to remember and provide a steady stream of income for Hancock).
- Gifts of Securities (stocks and bonds) are welcome. Ask Suzie for instructions. Marketable securities will be sold upon receipt, and the donor will receive an acknowledgement of the gift valued on the day the securities are received.
- Gifts from IRAs: Owners of IRAs who are at least 70½ years of age may realize significant tax advantages by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly to Hancock from a Regular, Rollover, or Inherited IRA.
- Gifts from Donor Advised Funds: Many fund companies have set up Donor Advised Funds that allow donors to contribute appreciated securities to the fund and then request donations to the charities of their choice over time. When you request the contribution to Hancock, just provide our address and indicate the purpose (annual fund, etc.).
- Solar Credits: Several Hancock members donate the solar credits generated by their solar panels; the credits reduce Hancock’s electric bill, and the credit is applied to fulfillment of the donor’s pledge.
- Tax Benefits: Gifts to the church may offer state and/or federal tax benefits. For tax purposes, as a church Hancock qualifies as a tax-exempt organization entitling donors to the maximum deduction allowed under the law. Hancock does not provide tax advice and encourages donors to consult their tax and financial advisors on the tax consequences of any gift.
